I had a friend over to help me line up my armour on the flak vest (the two pictures below are missing my center diamond plate). I put the flak vest with armour over my clothes that I was wearing that day. I still determining what I want to do with my back plate.
I plan on using a cliff wampa pelt as a cape (Cliff Wampas are found on the moon of Gall and can be seen while playing Shadows of the Empire). It will cover most of my back, but I still want it to seem like I am wearing a back plate. The cape is still a bit long and will be shortened after I complete the weathering process, which may or may not include the use of a shotgun (as Sentinel suggested) and some caked on mud/dirt.
As you can see in the pictures below it appears I am wearing a back plate under my cape. This is exactly what I wanted to create. I have two halves that are velcroed on to the flak vest on each side, so I can still unzip the vest from the back.
Helmet off and back shot. The pelt itself has already been cut along the lines of the bigger hole and at an angle to the right. The shotgun, if used would make it more tattered and less square at the edges.
So still a work in progress, but it is getting better every day (compare version 1 with version 2 below). My jeans are really bagging in the picture and the cod piece looks too high; it isn’t. Gaunts and knees should be shipping out soon (RKD).
Weathering of the armour was done with a butane torch.
